Nathan Jones, manager of Charlton Athletic, acknowledges the significance of their current eight-game unbeaten streak, asserting that such a feat is commendable in any footballing context.
Charlton aimed for their third consecutive victory as they faced Fleetwood Town in League One on Saturday. Despite their efforts, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fleetwood, led by Charlie Adam, who are striving to avoid relegation. Nevertheless, Charlton’s consistent performances have seen them go eight games without defeat under Jones, a trend that has helped them distance themselves from the relegation zone.
Jones, hailing from Wales, stressed that such a record is praiseworthy regardless of the level of competition. He now shifts his focus to preparing his team for their upcoming away fixture against Exeter City.
“We are currently on an eight-game unbeaten streak, which, in any footballing context, is a commendable achievement,” Jones remarked to Charlton’s media. “During the international break, we will strike a balance between allowing the players to recharge their batteries and continuing to work on our game. It’s crucial that we maintain our rhythm and momentum.”
Looking ahead, Jones highlighted the challenges awaiting Charlton, including an away game against Exeter followed by fixtures against Stevenage, Barnsley, and Wigan. Following their trip to Exeter, Charlton will enjoy a series of three consecutive home matches, which Jones is eager to capitalize on fully.
