Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius has expressed his desire to reclaim his position as a first-choice goalkeeper and regularly feature at the top level of the sport.
Since joining Newcastle in September 2022, Karius has only made two appearances in nearly two seasons. Despite playing in key matches like the EFL Cup final against Manchester United last year and a Premier League game against Arsenal last month, he has been consistently overlooked in favor of Martin Dubravka, even when Nick Pope was injured.
Acknowledging that he was aware of Newcastle’s established first-choice goalkeeper when he joined the club, Karius emphasized his dedication to training hard to earn more playing opportunities.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tutto Mercato), Karius affirmed his ambition to regain his status as a starting goalkeeper, citing his confidence in his abilities to excel at the highest levels of the game.
As his contract with Newcastle expires at the end of the season, it remains uncertain whether the club will seek to retain him.
