Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen received an update on his injury scare during Saturday’s game against the Rangers. Treinen experienced a frightening moment when he was struck by a comebacker while pitching, causing him to fall to the ground in pain. Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reported that Treinen suffered a right rib contusion and is currently undergoing X-rays.
Treinen is a key figure in the Dodgers’ bullpen, with the 35-year-old aiming to regain his status as one of baseball’s top relievers after missing the entire 2023 season due to injury. Despite being limited to just five games in 2022, Treinen showcased his talent with a stellar 1.99 ERA in 72 appearances during the 2021 season.
While the Dodgers remain hopeful that Treinen’s injury is not severe, injuries have plagued the team in recent years, extending into the 2024 spring training. Walker Buehler is still recovering from his second Tommy John Surgery, and Emmet Sheehan is set to start the 2024 campaign on the injured list.
With aspirations for a World Series run this year, maintaining overall team health is crucial for the Dodgers. Updates on Treinen’s condition and the team’s health will be provided as they become available.
