Ryan Gauld, formerly of Dundee United and Sporting Lisbon, has been appointed as captain of the Vancouver Whitecaps ahead of the MLS season opener. Gauld, who recently extended his contract with the Canadian club for four years, expressed gratitude for the honor of wearing the captain’s armband, emphasizing the club’s rich history.
The 28-year-old, voted as the club’s player of the year last season, remains hopeful of representing Scotland at the international level, a goal he has yet to achieve. As Vancouver prepares for their first MLS game against Charlotte FC, Gauld reaffirms his commitment to giving his all for the team and aims to make the city proud alongside his teammates.
