Report: Colin Cowherd gives no mention of Timberwolves as threat to Denver in the West

According to Colin Cowherd, the Denver Nuggets are poised to secure back-to-back titles, barring any significant injuries. However, Cowherd’s analysis notably omits any mention of the Minnesota Timberwolves as a potential threat in the Western Conference.

During his show, Cowherd praised the Nuggets for their strengths and discussed potential challengers in the postseason, including the Lakers, Suns, and Warriors. Surprisingly, the Timberwolves were not part of this discussion.

While extolling Denver’s attributes, Cowherd failed to acknowledge that Minnesota shares many of the same strengths, if not more. Despite this oversight, it’s worth noting that Tim Connelly, the current architect of the Timberwolves, played a significant role in building the successful Nuggets team. Furthermore, Minnesota has made significant roster improvements under Connelly’s leadership, highlighted by trades that bolstered their lineup with talent like Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Cowherd emphasized Denver’s high basketball IQ, size, defensive prowess, and shooting ability. However, similar attributes can be found in the Timberwolves, who boast a formidable defensive record and impressive offensive statistics, including strong shooting percentages.

While Cowherd pointed out Denver’s potential for playoff success based on their current seeding, he failed to recognize that Minnesota has also been a top contender, leading the West for a significant portion of the season. The Timberwolves have demonstrated their dominance at home, with a formidable record at Target Center.

Although Cowherd praised Denver’s construction and success, he overlooked the Timberwolves’ comparable achievements and strengths. This oversight is particularly notable given the competitive matchup between the two teams earlier in the season, which saw the Timberwolves secure a decisive victory.
