The Baltimore Ravens may receive interest from other teams as they aim to trim salary and make adjustments to their roster for the upcoming 2024 season. One player drawing attention as a potential trade target is offensive lineman Morgan Moses, given the high demand for quality starters or depth players at the offensive tackle position.
According to Bleacher Report’s Kris Knox, both the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers are eyeing Moses as a top trade prospect. The Saints and 49ers have struggled with pass protection and could benefit from adding a veteran lineman like Moses to bolster their offensive lines.
Moses, who completed his second season with the Ravens, has demonstrated versatility by playing predominantly at right tackle but also filling in on the left when needed. Despite approaching 33 years old, Moses remains a reliable option, as evidenced by his solid performance graded at 80.4 by Pro Football Focus, placing him among the top ten tackles in the NFL.
For the 49ers, upgrading the right tackle position is a priority following their disappointing Super Bowl loss. Knox suggests that Moses could be an ideal solution, especially considering the struggles of current right tackle Colton McKivitz.
Similarly, the Saints are eager to protect quarterback Derek Carr better after he faced numerous sacks and injuries during the previous season. While the Saints face salary cap constraints, Moses’s expiring contract and reasonable salary make him an appealing target for them.
However, for the Ravens, trading Moses could offer an opportunity to rejuvenate the roster with younger talent, particularly at the tackle position. With Ronnie Stanley’s injury history, the Ravens might consider parting ways with Moses to create cap space and acquire valuable draft picks to address their needs.
In a potential trade scenario, the Ravens could aim to secure a high draft pick, which they could use to select a promising offensive tackle from the deep pool of talent available in this year’s draft class. Overall, while Moses has been a valuable asset for the Ravens, exploring trade opportunities could allow the team to address long-term objectives and build for the future.
