The Baltimore Ravens are in discussions with veteran guard Kevin Zeitler regarding a potential contract extension. Despite being one of the oldest active offensive linemen in the NFL, turning 34 next month, Zeitler has proven to be a consistent performer throughout his 12-year career, earning his first Pro Bowl nod during his tenure with the Ravens. General Manager Eric DeCosta has confirmed ongoing talks with Zeitler about extending his time with the team.

Zeitler has been a key component of the Ravens’ offensive line since joining the team three years ago. Pro Football Focus has consistently ranked him as a top-15 guard during his time in Baltimore, with the advanced metrics placing him as the NFL’s second-best pass-blocking guard in 2023. Despite variations in grading systems, Zeitler’s durability and reliability as a starter have been evident throughout his career, having started 181 games, ranking among the top 20 all-time for offensive guards.

After securing a significant contract in free agency in 2017 with the Browns, Zeitler has since had stints with the Giants before landing with the Ravens on a three-year deal worth $22.5 million. While expressing interest in an extension last summer, Zeitler continued to perform at a high level during the 2023 season, starting 15 games and fulfilling his contract obligations without missing significant time.

With the potential departure of fellow guard John Simpson to free agency and the looming contract situations of other key players, such as Patrick Queen and Justin Madubuike, the Ravens are faced with important decisions regarding their roster. Zeitler’s experience and consistent performance make him a valuable asset, especially considering the upcoming free agent market for guards. The Ravens have until March 11 to negotiate a new deal with Zeitler before he hits the open market.
