Jerrod Johnson, a potential candidate for the New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator position, has opted to remain with the Houston Texans despite being interviewed twice by the Saints during the search process. Reports indicate that Johnson, who has been an NFL coach since 2017, conveyed his decision on Tuesday to teams expressing interest in him for a coordinator role. Recognizing his talent, the Texans have reportedly offered Johnson a contract extension along with a salary increase to retain him in Houston.
With Johnson no longer in consideration, the Saints will continue their search for an offensive coordinator. The candidate pool has narrowed down, and as of now, available options include Klint Kubiak, Passing Coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, QB coach Brian Griese, former Chicago Bears OC Luke Getsy, and Baltimore Ravens WR coach Greg Lewis.
