Green Bay Packers: Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys Draws a Parallel Between First-Year Starter Jordan Love and a Future Hall of Fame Quarterback with a Familiar Name

Jordan Love named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

The Green Bay Packers are directing their attention towards shaping the future of their franchise, evident from their off-season decisions to part ways with several veteran players. The team’s commitment to building around Jordan Love has been apparent in the past two NFL drafts, and they continue to focus on the development of their young quarterback.

However, this time, the Packers are considering adding a key player to provide protection for Jordan Love in the long run.

Green Bay Packers Expected to Secure the Services of a Two-Time Champion to Safeguard Jordan Love

According to the NFL Staff at Bleacher Report, the Packers are contemplating the addition of offensive lineman Amarius Mims in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. In the event they don’t trade up, Mims is seen as a strong candidate to fill the shoes of Bakhtiari. The Georgia product is ranked as the fourth offensive tackle and 28th overall player on B/R’s NFL draft big board. If selected, Mims might need to transition from right to left tackle, or Zack Tom could switch sides of the center, as he did during college to protect the blind side.

Describing Mims, B/R’s offensive line scout Brandon Thorn emphasized his towering physique, powerful build, substantial hands, and excellent arm length. Thorn noted Mims’s proficiency as a raw but effective run-blocker, highlighting his ability to use his size and length to fend off defenders. Mims is also recognized for his agility in pass protection, displaying smooth movements in his sets, range, redirect skills, and body control.

Addressing the Packers’ Need for a Left Tackle in the Future

With Jordan Love emerging as the potential franchise quarterback and talented wide receivers surrounding him, the onus is now on the organization to ensure adequate protection for Love. While Bakhtiari demonstrated his prowess as one of the best left tackles in the NFL in Week One, the uncertainty about securing his position permanently remains.

Despite Bakhtiari expressing his desire to return to the team for the next season, the Packers, focusing on the future, might be cautious about committing to him beyond 2024, especially given his age (32, turning 33 at the start of the next season). In light of this, the potential addition of Amarius Mims could play a crucial role in fortifying the Packers’ offensive line for the future.
