The Philadelphia Phillies had an impressive display of power in the 2023 season, with several players showcasing their strength by hitting some colossal home runs. Let’s recall the top five longest homers by Phillies hitters last year. Are you ready for a walk down memory lane with these powerful hits?
First on the list is Kyle Schwarber’s 450-foot blast against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on June 13. This towering shot, his 18th home run of the season, came on a 94.1 mph sinker from Zach Davies.
Bryce Harper claimed the fourth-longest homer for the Phillies in 2023, launching a 451-foot bomb against the New York Mets on Sept. 23. Harper’s 20th home run of the year soared into the second deck at Citizens Bank Park off a 90.7 mph four-seamer from José Quintana.
The third spot goes to Nick Castellanos, who smacked a 454-foot home run against the Mets on Sept. 21, breaking a tie in favor of the Phillies. His powerful hit ended up being the game-winning run as the Phillies secured a 5-4 victory.
Schwarber makes another appearance on the list with a 465-foot home run against the Padres on Sept. 6. This long-distance shot, his 41st of the season, sailed into straightaway center field off a pitch from Michael Wacha.
But the grandest of them all belonged to Schwarber yet again. On Sept. 18 against the Atlanta Braves, Schwarber delivered a colossal 483-foot moonshot off Braves reliever Michael Tonkin at Truist Park. This mammoth 2-run homer marked his 45th of the season and became the Phillies’ longest home run in 2023.
These powerful hits were not only a display of the Phillies’ strength but also memorable moments that left their mark on the 2023 season.
