The New Orleans Saints have concluded Ryan Ramczyk’s 2023 season due to injury, raising uncertainty about his future beyond this year.
On Saturday, the team placed the veteran right tackle on injured reserve and signed Cameron Erving as his replacement on the active roster.
Ramczyk recently addressed the challenges he’s encountered managing a persistent knee injury that has troubled him for the past couple of seasons. Despite following a management program involving regular rest days, the injury began impacting his performance significantly.
Having missed the last two games due to the injury, Ramczyk mentioned this week that surgery might be necessary to address the issue. He also expressed concerns about the injury’s potential impact on his life post-football.
“I think this offseason, (I’m) going to try and get a lot of questions answered and talk to a lot of people and hear a lot of opinions and go from there,” stated Ramczyk.
In Ramczyk’s absence, third-year tackle Landon Young has started the team’s last two games. Additionally, ahead of Sunday’s Week 17 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints elevated practice squad defensive back Shemar Jean-Charles.
